Arkley Interdenominational Novice Conference
On the 5th of March seven Novices (accompanied by Br Desmond Alban SSF and Sr Beverley CSF) travelled to the Poor Clare Convent in Arkley for ten days of formation. Input was provided by Sr Francisca OSC and Br Desmond Alban SSF and was based around the theme ‘Franciscans making a difference.’ We looked at the impact of Francis and Clare on the life of the Church; on her prayer and on her pastoral practice. In addition we were encouraged to think about the centrality of the Eucharist in the Franciscan Tradition. Teaching sessions were punctuated by meals (provided by the wonderful Arkley ‘committee’) and Offices. Arkley is a highlight of the Novice year and we were not disappointed!

Metheringham House at Lincoln Cathedral
The sisters have now been in Metheringham for 2 1/2 years and continually try to promote the ministry of hospitality available in the beautiful surroundings of the Metheringham countryside. A place of peace and tranquility for quiet days, retreats or just some rest and refreshment. On Saturday 16th March, Sr Liz and Sr Maureen were invited to have a stand in Lincoln Cathedral to promote the facilities at San Damiano. Having recently revised the promotional literature, the pictures below are of Sr Liz and Sr Maureen talking to enquirers and handing out the new glossy leaflets.
Sisters Meeting 2013
The annual gathering of CSF sisters in the European Province took place at Hilfield Friary over the weekend of 28 February – 3 March. Part of an afternoon was spent under the tutelage of Jonathan Herbert of the Hilfield Community, who encouraged us to do some ‘weaving’ with unusual fibres – twigs, palm leaves, reeds, bamboo, synthetic twine, and strips of cloth. In the pictures, Phyllis, Chris and Sue are busy with their weaving frames; Liz and Jannafer display their finished or part-finished products.
During a discussion: Christine James, Beverley, Gina and Jannafer. The daffodils were presented to Beverley on the morning of St David’s Day.
