In the Diocese of Lincoln, the Sisters in the village of Metheringham offer a place of hospitality and welcome day visitors, both groups and individuals, to share their life and to use the facilities of the house ‘San Damiano’. The rhythm of life is based around a daily pattern of prayer in which guests are welcome to participate. As the Sisters seek to be more deeply rooted and to live a more balanced way of life they have incorporated some aspects of the ‘Franciscan Rule for Hermitages’ as part of weekly routine and to enable this, the house is silent and closed to day visitors on Mondays.

The house is generally open from Wednesday to Sunday for resident guests, but at times those staying for Individually Guided Retreats may stay over on Mondays respecting the community’s silent day and the more informal structure of the day.

The house is situated in beautifully open grounds with many walks in the surrounding Lincolnshire countryside just on the doorstep. The main village of Metheringham and facilities are a short walk away.

The Sisters also undertake various other ministries both within and from the house and these include: spiritual direction, leading retreats and quiet days, preaching, teaching and various Provincial engagements. We have no independent source of income and would therefore ask you to consider an appropriate financial donation for use of the facilities and the ministry of the Sisters.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home to share in our way of life.
