Why after you?
Anslem is currently based at Glasshampton in Worcestershire and is in the 55th year of his profession.
In 1950 I was demobbed from REME, went on the Franciscan mission to hop pickers in Kent, and started a three year degree course in Cambridge. Simultaneously, I met Francis on the pages of John Moorman’s SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI and came to realise that ‘after him’, was for me.
I think that between them, Brother Douglas and Father Algy (who was definitely never Brother Algy) summed up what Francis stood for, and that the friary at Cerne Abbas (which I visited in the October of that, for me, momentous year) was where I wanted to be. And SSF is where I still am!
